Lizzie Borden's Maplecroft - Drive-by

In November of 2015, we traveled to Fall River, Massachusetts and stopped by Maplecroft.   Maplecroft was the home of Lizzie and Emma Borden after the they inherited the money from their murdered father Andrew.

This was the first location we stopped at after spending the night at the Lizzie Borden Bed and Breakfast.   The gentleman who was working the gift shop gave us directions to the house which we stopped at on the way to the cemetery to see the family plot.   Maplecroft is located at 306 French Street, Fall River, MA 02720.
We do not have too many pictures from this location since we could only take them from the street outside.  This sometimes happens with us due to the amount of time we may have in an area or at a location, we do what we call a drive-by visit.  At the time, the house was for sale and um-occupied. We were not able to get access to the building. When we got the chance to make the videos about the building, we used photos from the realtor's website to show what the house looked like on the inside.

The good news is that that the house now belongs to the owners of the Lizzie Borden Bed and Breakfast and they plan on opening up Maplecroft as a B&B and for for paranormal investigations soon as well.      We actually planned on going back to Fall River in the Summer of 2019 and try to spend the night at Maplecroft; however, it was still not open yet for regular formal stays.   At some point we want to go back and do that and we will definitely have an update from that adventure when we accomplish that bucket list goal.    You can find out more of the history of Maplecroft in our following video.
There are many paranormal reports that come out of Maplecroft and it has already been featured on a few of the paranormal TV shows, but we did put together a ghost stories and folklore video from some of these reports.   I'm sure as more investigators get a chance to get inside the building these reports will be updated.
Like I mentioned, we did not get a chance to go inside the home when we visited, but we did get a chance to see the building.   Marianne took as many photos that she could from outside without trespassing on the property, but she did get a great picture of the front step that has the name "Maplecroft" carved into it.

Lizzie Borden changed her name to "Lizbeth" and spent the remainder of her life here at this home.   Her sister Emma, who purchased the house with her, eventually moved out of the house over an argument that they had and the two never spoke to each other again after that, which we find interesting.   Though all of our research into the case, we are still not sure as to the nature of that argument and what it would take to separate two sisters that were so close as it is believed that the sisters never formally disclosed anything about the disagreement.   There are those who claim it was over Lizbeth's life style and there are others who claim is was in relations to the rumors of the murder itself.

Either way, Maplecroft with it's 8 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, and a living area of almost 4,000 square feet stands as a testament to the aftermath of two unsolved murders.   Whether Lizzie committed the crimes or not, she and her sister did inherit Andrew's wealth, and Lizzie finally got her, "Home up on the hill."
If you have been to Maplecroft or even had the chance to go inside and spend the night, please share your experience with us in the comments below.   Like I mentioned, we plan on going back someday so that we can go inside, and hopefully spend the evening with Lizbeth Borden.
