In June of 2025, we traveled to Yorktown, Virginia, continuing our tradition of exploring historic locations tied to both documented history and lingering legends. After spending some time at the Cole Digges House, we took a short break at a nearby picnic table to escape the heat. It was there that we noticed a quiet cemetery tucked beside the property, partially shaded and overlooking the river.

In June of 2025, we traveled to Williamsburg, Virginia, and one of the places we visited was Bruton Parish Episcopal Church, a location that stands at the very heart of the city’s colonial past. With its brick walls, tall windows, and centuries of history, the church is impossible to miss and immediately draws you into another era. Even from the outside, it feels like a place where countless stories have quietly unfolded.

While exploring Richmond in the summer of 2025, Marianne picked up a local tourist magazine from the lobby of our hotel and noticed that Old St. John’s Church was just a short distance away. Given its close proximity—and its deep roots in American history—we quickly added the church to our list of must-see stops before leaving the city, not realizing just how memorable the visit would become.
