The first time we stood beneath the towering light at Fairport Harbor Lighthouse was in 2004; it felt like nothing more than a quiet stop along Lake Erie’s shoreline—a historic beacon watching patiently over the water. Years later, in 2015, we returned with a very different purpose.

During our honeymoon in July of 2006, we set out on a long road trip down the east coast, stopping at historic sites, coastal landmarks, and beautiful viewpoints along the way. One of the places we visited was the Bodie Island Lighthouse on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. At the time, we saw it simply as a peaceful stop during our travels, not realizing how much mystery and folklore surrounded the location.

In 2016, we traveled to Key West, Florida, and one of our stops was at the Key West Lighthouse, where we learned the haunted tales of the Key West's Forgotten Lady of the Lighthouse.
