During our honeymoon in July of 2006, we set out on a long road trip down the east coast, stopping at historic sites, coastal landmarks, and beautiful viewpoints along the way. One of the places we visited was the Bodie Island Lighthouse on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. At the time, we saw it simply as a peaceful stop during our travels, not realizing how much mystery and folklore surrounded the location.
