In April of 2018, we traveled to Chicago to attend an event that was at the Congress Plaza Hotel. Part of that event was a bus tour down to the Englewood Post Office, which happens to be the former location of H.H. Holmes Murder Castle.
There have been many books, YouTube videos, documentaries, and TV Shows talking about the Murder Castle, but the location of the post office is 611 W 63rd St, Chicago, IL 60621.
For those who don't know, Herman Webster Mudgett (May 16, 1861 – May 7, 1896), better known as Dr. Henry Howard Holmes or, more commonly, as H. H. Holmes, was an American serial killer. While he confessed to 27 murders, only nine could be plausibly confirmed and several of the people he claimed to have murdered were still alive. He is said to have killed as many as 200, though this figure is only traceable to 1940s pulp magazines. Many victims were said to have been killed in a mixed-use building which he owned, located about 3 miles (5 km) west of the 1893 World's Fair: Colombian Exposition, supposedly called the World's Fair Hotel (informally called "The Murder Castle"), which is now the location of the Englewood Post Office.
I forgot to mention, as an added bonus, Marianne got to go on this tour with the Great-Great Grandson of H.H. Holmes (Herman Mudgett) Mr. Jeff Mudgett, author of Blood Stains and Co-Host of the History Channel's, American Ripper.

If you have seen any of our live streams, you know that we try to collect items from some of the locations we have visited. Well, Marianne did pick up a few of the seeds that dropped off of the tree that now stands over what is believed to be the foundation of the "Murder Castle." These are now in Our Haunted Location Collection.
To add to this story. Marianne was a little upset that she didn't get a chance to go inside the post office. She wanted to mail home something whether it was a post card, or even just an empty envelop. She just wanted to have an item for the "Our Haunted Location" collection that had a post mark on it from the haunted post office. Well for our Wedding Anniversary in July, I reached out to one of our YouTube friends that lives in Chicago, Artemorbid (Please be sure to stop by and check out his channel. Tell him Our Haunted Travels sent you), and asked him if would mail Marianne a post card from the Englewood Post Office. He did.
You can actually travel along with Artemorbid as he hops on the subway out to Englewood to mail the post card to Marianne in the following video. This was just awesome, and we cannot thank him enough for doing this for us. Needless to say, Marianne now has that post card in the collection.
