Our Stay at the Congress Plaza

In April of 2018, we traveled to Chicago for a special event that being held at the Haunted Congress Plaza Hotel. It was a great weekend filled with many different activities and adventures.

It took a little while to get to the hotel form the airport. If you have never been to Chicago before, be prepared if you visit. It took about an hour and 1/2 by taxi to go 20 miles, and the taxi ride was not cheap either; however, we made it and was anticipating our adventure. The Congress Plaza Hotel is located at 520 S Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL 60605. You can find out more information about staying there, events, or booking rooms on their website.

I do have to admit something here, and most of our followers on YouTube know this. We thought that we lost all of these pictures and video from this weekend. A couple of months after this event, we had a hard drive failure and were not able to recover a lot of files. After scouring through SD cards and digging through folders, we were able to find these again. One of the shots that we took was when I stayed up in the room and Marianne went down the plaza and was taking pictures back up at the building.

The hotel has a very interesting past and history. The building originally opened in 1893 as an Annex building for another hotel during the 1893 World's Fair. You can check out more of the history of the building that we talked about in our following video.

The Congress Plaza Hotel has been in the PANICd.com database for some time now. We heard about the haunting of this building and really never thought we would have a chance to visit, but when Marianne saw that event Jeff Mudgett was organizing was going on here at this haunted hotel, we made arrangements to make this trip happen.

If you would like to hear about some of the paranormal activity that takes place within the hotel, we also produced a "Ghost Stories and Folklore" video about the location as well.

We spent the entire weekend at the hotel, and conducted some mini investigations. Marianne did one of her video walk through videos of the building, and we even performed an EVP session in our room 3 different times. In the following video we talk about our investigations.

Here are some more photos from inside of the building (which where part of our videos), but some of these pictures highlight some of the detail work throughout the building. Yet, other photos document some of the places that may just need a little renovation. Typical of a building of this age that hasn't been just completed gutted and redone, but we are so glad that they haven't.

Let us know what you think about the Congress Plaza Hotel down in the comments section below. Have you been there? Would you like to go there some time in the future?
