In May of 2019, while we were in Farmington, Pa. for a Bigfoot Conference, we stopped off at Fort Necessity National Battlefield and the Mount Washington Tavern.
From the main highway going past the park entrance, you can see the tavern sitting up on the hill. In order to get to the Tavern, you have to enter the park.
It is located at 3414 National Pike, Farmington, PA 15437. You can learn more about the tavern and the park on the National Park Service website for Fort Necessity National Battlefield.
When we arrived at the park, we looked over at the tavern and saw that there was a tour waiting to go inside in the front. We decided to go down to the fort first, then try to hit the tavern on our way back out of the park. We drove up to the tavern after leaving the fort. We must of timed this perfectly, since there was nobody else around, if fact, we thought that we missed our opportunity and the building would of been closed and locked up; however, once we got up to the top of the stairs and opened the front tour a rush of anticipation rushed over us. A historical building, with nobody else around... what would a couple of paranormal researchers do with this situation?
We walked through the building and conducted a few burst EVP sessions while Marianne was taking photographs as I was filming the video. We didn't immediately find anything, but the experience was quite interesting.
Mount Washington Tavern is a classic example of the many inns once lining the National Road, the United States' first federally funded highway. The land on which the tavern was built was originally owned by George Washington. In 1770 he purchased the site on which he had commanded his first battle. Around the 1830s, Judge Nathanial Ewing of Uniontown constructed the tavern. James Sampey acquired the tavern in 1840.
